We are excited to announce that Patchwork Ethnography: A Methodological Guide will be published by the University of Chicago Press in January 2027. We hope the book will be useful for all of you!

We will be launching the book during the Patchwork Ethnography Winter School at Rice University’s Paris Center between December 14-18, 2026. The winter school will be an opportunity for us to share the exercises that comprise the five chapters of the book with 10 PhD students from around the world. Please apply to be part of the event! Over five days, we will explore new strategies for ethnographic training that acknowledge the ways researchers’ personal lives shape knowledge production. The application deadline is April 13, 2026. 

The workshop will be run in English. When selecting participants, we will consider diversity across locations, universities, genders, and life experiences. Rice University will cover accommodation, breakfasts, lunches, and some dinners, as well as workshop space. We are seeking funding for travel expenses.
